1891 C. Bechstein Grand Piano # 25435 – Fully Restored in 2004
This fine instrument has been in our family since 1965. It was my father’s pride and joy and was regularly tuned for his playing.
He became friends with the lead pianist of the Romanian state opera in the 1990s who came to stay every summer in the family home to recover from her busy work schedule and to, of course, practice daily. In honour of her, my father spent a vast amount on having the piano fully restored by Coach House Pianos in 2004 spending far more than he should have – approx 14,000 on a compete and lavish rework. Fully details of the renovation can be seen in both the attached paperwork photos for the quoted work and the stunning appearance of the finished interior.
Sadly, with the passing of our parents and no other pianists in the family, it must be sold. It has a warm, atmospheric and charming sound which needs a new home.
The piano does have a scratch on the lid and despite UV film on the nearby window bay has evidence of sun-bleaching on the far end. Both these issues have been inspected by an antiques expert (Jonathan Bull of Narberth) who says they can be easily rectified by a wood specialist.
The piano comes with a cushioned stool and will require professional piano removers for transportation which will add approx. 300 to the price depending on distance.
Dimensions: 6ft x 4ft 10″ Height 3ft 2″ making it a Parlour Grand.
