1938 Hammond BC s/n 0316, I named Neville after Chamberlain who was PM the year the organ was built.
Iit really breaks my heart to sell, but the need to downsize house means I will no longer have a music room and as I have numerous pianos, organ and synths, something has to go-quite a lot, in fact! Please note that this is a BC, not a B3, so make sure you know what you’re bidding for. The BC is a model AB, with an additional tone generator . Percussion could be added by a TREK II add-on kit
Previously owned by a late organ engineer, I have not tinkered much, merely Danish oiled the bodywork and stool and varnished the pedals to improve speed!
There was no drawbar for the Chorus second tonewheel generator, so I fabricated one using a choke knob/cable and metal parts-works fine and looks ok-see photo.
The drawbars are the original early design and not smooth transition, but I havent sprayed them or anything as they work ok, albeit a bit crunchy and Im not knowledgable enough to risk doing more harm than good. Pedalboard works fine.
Neville did not come with a pre amp. I have been looking for the correct one ever since I purchased the organ. There are 1/4 inch output jacks , which I preamp with a small powered mixer ( not included, but any would do), and into a Leslie 720, NOT INCLUDED, as may not be required by the buyer and which I will put up for auction separately tomorrow to give the buyer of the BC priority to buy it, if required. No other equipment shown in any photos is included
Lidded stool and 25 note pedalboard, Leslie switch ( but not cable as this goes with the Leslie) included.
The keyboard action is the smoothest Ive ever come across. Amazing.Bodywork in very good condition. Lid key missing, as seem to be a few rear panel screws- I will have a search for the screws, but cant guarantee as cant remember if they were there when I purchased and the back has been off ever since. Generators oiled.
The sound is the real deal. No percussion or reverb, just the Chorus, but the tone blows me away. Ive tried it with other effects boxes with overdrive and , boy does it growl a la John Lord ( wish I could play like he did). So much nicer than my XK3c/XK1 gigging Hammonds, but definitely not portable! Solid thickwood (oak!) frame makes it eyewateringly heavy- think its about 450 pounds, so needs 2 or 3 strong people, a proper piano trolley and a van to move.
Collection only. Can work with couriers if buyer arranges, but cant wrap or assist much with the lifting. Its on the ground floor in my music room, with near drive access for van. Located in Margate.
Uk sales only as I cant prepare for overseas transit.
Payment by PayPal within 48 hours or will be relisted and the buyer crucified, unless messaged for time extension .No (MORE!)time wasters please. Do not bid unless you have the money, any necessary permissions from spouse etc, can arrange collection promptly and have room for it!!! If not totally satisfied on collection, payment will be refunded via PayPal immediately. Please make sure you know the features /model before you bid- please message me if any questions.
No returns after collection. Neville is 80 years old so is bought as seen.
