I bought this piano when I was in sixth form as a very keen pianist who was pursuing a career in music performance. I was previously using a Yamaha Clavinova (electric piano), but as I was preparing for my Grade 8 exam I needed to upgrade my instrument to fully develop my ability to play on an acoustic piano. After purchasing this fantastic piano, I successfully passed my Grade 8 with distinction which secured my place to study music at university. I have the piano for almost 10 years now, however, I have moved into my own home where the piano doesnt fit. As a result, I am reluctantly having to sell this beautiful instrument as it is sadly no longer being played.
The piano is a fabulous example of a U3, in polished ebony and made in Japan in 1983. The piano is in absolutely pristine condition with no marks, no scratches or any signs of damage. It has not been refurbished, it is completely original and really is like new.
Its touch is perfectly balanced with a rich tone and evenly balanced timbre across the entire keyboard. The Yamaha U3 is on the larger side for an upright piano. At 1.3 metres in height it can house longer strings, and therefore produce a rich and resonant all round tone more so than most other uprights, or even baby grand pianos. That is the reason why I chose this piano it really does stand out amongst any uprights Ive ever played (including those I played at university).
Included with the piano is a height adjustable leather studded stall and a full protective cover. The three pedals are damper, muffler (practice) and soft. The practice pedal is perfect for quiet playing, allowing it to be suitable for practice at any time of day, in any house setting/location.
