1988 Kawai CX-5 in White Gloss

Having been closed for many weeks we re-opened for viewings from late May. Viewings are by appointment only as always, and with all available pianos carefully cleaned before and after all viewings (as we did for several weeks before the lockdown).
We will also ask all visitors to wear face coverings and to use hand cleaner before entering the showroom and will be observing strict social distancing procedures. We have disposable gloves available also. Deliveries are carefully planned in advance to minimise contact, with pianos cleaned before and after delivery and all precautions taken. A high quality Kawai CX-5 small upright piano made in Japan in 1988, this is a sought after model no longer made. Kawai are Japans second largest piano maker, with an excellent reputation, on a par with Yamaha. This piano has an excellent action as found in Kawais larger pianos and this is an ideal instrument for those looking for dependable, lasting quality in a small package, or for those looking for something with a bit more class that a typical starter / intermediate piano.

Tone and tuning
This piano has a lovely rich tone with great balance between brightness and warmth, and a good dynamic range for a small piano. The bass is strong (especially for an instrument of this size) and the treble is clear and bell like. Tuned to concert pitch (A=440). Although this piano only has 2 pedals it does have a mute rail fitted which is easily operated from just inside the top lid – this considerably reduces the volume level for very quiet practice.
Keyboard and action
The full 88 note keyboard is in very good condition and the action has just been regulated so plays smoothly across the whole keyboard, with a medium weight action.
Hammers and strings
Very little wear in the hammers – see pictures. Strings also in excellent condition.
Sound board
Excellent condition, no cracks, splits or ripples.
Case
The case is finished in a stylish Ivory White Gloss and is in good condition- there are some small marks etc which are noticeable only close up (more photos available on request) and overall it looks fantastic. Matching white stool included in the price.
Dimensions – 108cm tall x 54 deep x 148 wide (widest point at top lid). A small sized upright with an impressive sound, that will easily fit into fairly small spaces.
