22 pipe Hand Cranked Street Organ (David Leach Built) This is my Street Organ which I used for some years to raise Thousand of pounds for Medical Aid trips to the Ukraine. Was built by Craftsman Organ Builder David Leach, of Huddersfield. I bought it from him about 22 years ago, for a little over 2000 then.
Size is 21 inches high x 16 inches deep x 20 inches wide (52 cms x 40 cms x 52 cms )Weighs about 25 kg – not portable – I used an old Edwardian style pushcart. I have stored it in a cool dry place, after I could not carry or use it due to a back injury. The hand crank fills the bellows – there is a midi input system which signals stainless steel solenoids which open and close the pipes. The 12v also powers the solenoid action. I have 100 or so tunes on a disc which David Leach wrote, but any Midi input device can be used, laptop, phone etc… Belts out the tunes, which can be automated somewhat – I used a giant balloon monkey to turn the handle while I twisted balloon animals… I would normally list this for a higher price, but when I recently went to test it to record some tunes for this listing, I must have attached the battery terminals back to front, because a loud “Pop” and a puff of smoke rose for the small circuit board – (see Image), and I am not able to troubleshoot or  resolder a Capacitor (the circuit board is quite primitive – a hobbyist would see it as a simple job.) One of the pipes has a mild browning , and three have a mild wear to the outer surface where I used to store it in my trailer on an old Edwardian Cart (not included in the sale)The organ comes with a cradle (see Image) should you need to work on the solenoids ( I have never had to)Last time I had it up and running, it was still in perfect tune (pearwood pipes), and with a little patience and application you will have a thumping rig…Since I cannot show it working now, being a small project , I am putting it out there for much lower than I was expecting. Pick up only from DL14 0RG Any questions, message me via Ebay…
