Thisis an upright piano made by Collard & Collard of London. Its serial number, 160770, which is on theinside in ink, indicates that it was made between 1875 and 1900. It is iron frame, overstrung with anunderdamper action. Ithas been cared for as a lovely piece of Victorian furniture, with its beautifulburred walnut (?) case in fine condition. The keys may well be ivory and ebony. As far as we know, the piano hasbeen in our family from the start, and certainly from the 1920s. Ithas however not been played for very many years and, although the bodywork isexcellent, the workings have been sadly neglected and need a thorough overhaul. Theapproximate dimensions are: H 1.26m x W 1.48mx D 0.62m. It is very heavy indeed.
