This beautifully preserved antique piano was made by the famous English makers John Broadwood & Sons – we haven’t fully investigated but its estimated to have been made around 1850. So a real vintage item! It’s what’s known as a ‘cottage piano’, with just over 7 octaves, so is the perfect size for a beginner/student, or just as an elegant, non-bulky addition to a room. 132cm long and on small metal castors, but they are a bit stiff and could do with some WD40 to make your life easier when moving. It has been lovingly preserved aesthetically, but will need a good tune up, especially after transport. However, once serviced they are famously reliable pianos with a nice easy tone and touch.
Piano stool also included – top is damaged, but could just do with a cushion/blanket over it, works well and you can store sheet music or tools in the seat itself as it opens up on hinges.
Wish we could keep it and tune it up, but we are moving onto a narrowboat, and the piano would definitely not fit on board..!
Hope you enjoy 🙂
