Yamaha PSR-1700 Electronic Keyboard – Vintage 1990s – 61 Keys – MIDI

A lovely relic from the 1990’s in excellent condition considering the age.

There are some marks underneath on the base, to be expected with any keyboard. But the rest of the case looks excellent. It’s also extremely clean and there are no signs of any fading or any blemishes to any of the text and buttons that you usually see on something like this.

The keys are ever so slightly yellowed if you wanted to critique. I only noticed this when cleaning them as the very top of the keys are slightly whiter. I have tested every single key and button and everything is working exactly as it should. The speakers sound great as well. The power supply is built into this keyboard which is unusual but it does mean that you don’t need to worry about having a seperate power adapter. So this keyboard is literally ready to plug and play.

The screen is also working fine. I have taken various photos of this keyboard from as many angles as I could as to demonstrate the all round condition.

In total this keyboard is 61 keys and it is advertised as having a 28 note polyphony.

The only thing I haven’t been able to fully test the expansion sounds you can load via floppy disk. I happen to have a few blank floppy disks which I can put into the drive and hear it spin and seek. However the disks don’t contain anything that can be read by the keyboard so it just displays a no file message. I suspect tracking down Yamaha expansion disks for this might prove tricky. However if you do, they should work fine based on my testing I just don’t have one to try.

Lastly, the battery compartment underneath is very clean and tidy. Sometimes people leave old batteries in and it can make quite a mess, but this keyboard is tip top. There are no batteries currently installed so when powering the keyboard on you will see a backup battery low message on the screen. Install batteries and that message will go. Just on a side note about batteries, I don’t believe it is actually possibly to power this keyboard entirely from batteries. I believe it was only ever a battery backup function for the memory and settings you customise etc. But I don’t have the manual to validate that behaviour.

So that’s about it. I welcome any questions and will endeavour to answer them as best I can.

I would very much prefer a collection in person for this item. I may even consider meeting the buyer part way if coming from distance. However as I always inevitably get asked, yes I am willing to post this item. However as I do not have any suitable boxes or packing material in my posession I will need to purchase those. Hence why the postage and packing costs are quite substantial. I will also need to ensure adequate insurance cover in case of damage or loss in transit.
