Bluthner Style 4 Baby Grand Piano with Cabriole Leg Serial Number 123693. Condition is Used.
PRIVATE SELLER FOR LESS THAN HALF THE PRICE OF A COMPARABLE ITEM FROM A DEALER ON EBAY!
This piano was bought in Belgium in the late 1970’s and brought by the new owner to the UK in 1986. It has not been played for some 20 years due to the age and arthritis of the owner.
It is in excellent condition with no scratches of blemishes except for slight sun bleaching on the left hand side. The length is 4 feet 11 inches and the width 4 feet 10 inches. It has not been played for 20 years, so it will require re-tuning.
In the 19th century, Leipzig in Germany had over 200 piano manufacturers yet Liszt, Wagner, Mahler and Debussy all chose to play and compose on Blthner pianos. Blthner pianos are famous for their clarity and their warm, rich sound. They create a dark, chocolate sound with a sparkling treble without being sharp and metallic. To learn more about Bluthner pianos and see a video with Chis Chalmers playing “Misty” on a Bluthner Model 4 Baby Grand piano, similar to the one being sold, do an internet search for Classic FM/ discover-music/instruments/piano/features/what-makes-bluthner-pianos-special (Ebay will not allow me to post a direct link).
The Bluthner Model 4 is considered one of the best baby grand pianos ever made. This one was produced in Leipzig in the late 1930’s before the original factory was destroyed in the war.
