1960s Jahn Studio 110 Professional Upright Piano, made in Germany.
This is a very fine small upright piano made by German piano makers Jahn c1960-1970. This is a small upright but the sound is remarkable, in part due to the Renner action and hammers – the same as used in Bluthner, Steinway and Bosendorfer pianos.
These pianos are very rare, especially in the UK.
Tone and tuning
Exceptionally beautiful tone – rich, warm and clear as a bell in the treble with no hint of harshness. The bass tone is excellent for an instrument of this size. Very good sustain and large dynamic range. Tuned to concert pitch (A=440hz).
Hammers and strings
The Renner hammers, as found on many of the worlds top pianos, are in very good condition, with not much wear – many years of playing ahead before they may need refacing. Strings – great condition throughout, no tubbiness in the bass register.
Soundboard
Perfect condition with no cracks or splits whatsoever – see photo.
Keys and action
The action is all original and in excellent condition with medium weight and even across the keyboard – very pleasing to play. There are some light scratches on a few of the keys but not very noticeable and doesnt affect playing.
Case
The natural wood case is in very good condition – some very small marks / dents that are visible from very close up only – this piano has been well cared for. All brass hardware has been carefully repolished.
