Sonola gained worldwide recognition when the brand was acquired by the company Guerrini, which further developed and produced Sonola instruments. Guerrini (from the Italian village of Castelfidardo) produced chromatic button accordionsand piano accordions (also under the Sonola brand).
Guerrini was founded in 1920 by Arrigo Guerrini. From 1923, Guerrini accordionswere sold in Cleveland through his brother in law, Petromilli.Beginning in the 1930s, brothers Aurelio and Gino Cupido operated in the USAin the trade and repair of accordions. They founded La Sonola with Petromilli.
In America in 1948, Al Dronge became an importer of Sonola accordions in NewYork City, with his younger brother Louis.Well-known musicians such as Bob Creash, Mel Brandt,Johnny La Padula, Branimir Djokic and Ernie Felice are just a few of manyvirtuosos which are associated with the brand name Sonola.Sonola hasstood in the Italian village of Castelfidardosince 1935, with the production ofaccordions and organs in the highestquality.”
