John Broadwood & Sons is the oldest and one of the most prestigious piano companies in the world and its piano have been enjoyed by the likes of Mozart, Haydn, Chopin, Beethoven and Liszt. Laying claim to many historical piano innovations, including the original Square Piano, the company holds the Royal Warrant as manufacturer of pianos to Queen Elizabeth II.
John Broadwood & Sons London Green Frame Upright Piano pre C.1915 (Restoration project) John Broadwood & Sons of London Green Frame upright piano. Full iron frame, 7 octaves, 85 notes, overstrung, underdamped, working order, all notes play, will need attention as some of the keys are ringing on, casework is showing its age with numerous scuffs and scrapes and one leg is damaged. The piano dates to pre C.1915 based on its serial number 116947. This model is the rare and highly sought after ‘Green Frame’ edition, widely regraded as the best upright pianos ever built by Broadwood and winner of the coveted Paris Gold Medal and other prestigious awards. The piano is playable but would require quite considerable restoration to return it to its former glory. The approximate dimensions are: W 140cm H 120cm D 60cm Established in 1728, Broadwood is the only piano maker to have consistently built pianos for over 250 years.

It is a beautiful piece and has been played regularly by my teenagers. Condition is Used. This item is collection only.
