Hi,
Very rare opportunity here to buy an original Hammond C3 organ from the 60s. There are many very good emulators and simulators out there these days but NOTHING comes close to the real sound and feel of a Hammond organ!
We have owned this model for about 8 years, having purchased it from a renowned local tonewheel restoration expert.
The unit is split, which makes it considerably easier to transport and move around, and also affords the option to have it presented as a B3 (more on that below). The top and bottom come apart and the swell pedal connects by means of a hook and rod.
We have always kept this organ in the custom flightcases we had made for it, but it is now 60 years old and has played a lot of gigs (I can direct you towards various YouTube videos of it on stage with famous bands at famous festivals if you so wish!) and so the cosmetic condition is far from perfect. Lots of small nicks and scrapes and scuffs all around the woodwork.
This is all just cosmetic though as we have kept the insides in fantastic condition – regularly serviced by the same expert we purchased from with whatever needed doing being replaced or fixed, both routine and one-off maintenance. Upper and lower manuals all work, as does chorus, percussion etc and all drawbars function as they should. One key had been broken but has been glued back together without problem – see photos.
We also had a jack output fitted such that you can play the organ into any amp or DI box etc of your choosing. Or it does of course have a 6-pin Leslie output too which also works as it should.
The bass pedals are detachable and included – all working fine and controlled by two drawbars. Also included is the correct bench which is also in cosmetically fairly poor condition. But structurally fine and completely solid.
As mentioned, we had a custom B3-style base made to order by a local carpenter. This enables you to transfer the swell pedal over and put the top half on a B3 base. The colour match is pretty good and it looks very convincing. The bass pedals however do not work with the B3 base.
It’s very heavy, even split in two, though the wheels on the flightcases make moving it around pretty easy. You will need a van to collect this.
We can assist with delivery if required as we have a fleet of vans here – please get in touch for a quote but very roughly we can deliver anywhere in the UK for 1.60/mile from Brighton.
Please get in touch with any questions or if you’d like to come and try the organ out.
Price includes VAT and an invoice will be issued on request.
