This piano was the Roland flagship piano of its time – solid wood frame, amazing sounding speakers: all giving a resonance and sound equivalent to an acoustic piano. This piano has been owned by us since new, after a couple of house moves there are some scratches, but its been dearly treasured and only used by a professional musician. Most recently where its lived (a garden studio) the sunlight from the windows has caused the veneer on the end panels to come loose (see photos for detail) – this is only superficial, and nothing to do with the sound quality of this flagship piano. We’ve left in place as is, and it’s perfectly conceivable, if the veneer is removed, it could with its original wood edged structures, become a vintage looking keyboard, like a Moog or a classic synth. Across the rest of the piano, the wood is lovely – dark and highly polished. This really is a lovely instrument and piece of furniture.This piano has an amazing sound, even compared to current models – due to its wooden construction which reverberates, adding to the whole real acoustic piano sound. The key action is fully weighted comparable to acoustic pianos – it is an inspiration to play (there are three pedals built into the stand) – rarely found in an electric model.It is worth saying that this is a very heavy piano – fundamentally due to the large high quality speakers built into it. Therefore whoever wins the auction needs two people to collect it – I’m pretty strong and I struggle to shift it alone.
