Beautiful antique upright piano made by John Spencer and Co. Underside of the top lid has the Royal Crest in gold, which states:
By Special Appointment to H.R.H. The Princess of Wales
Melbourne 1888 Prize Medal – Centennial International Exhibition Melbourne
Edinburgh 1890 Gold Medal – Electric Exhibition Edinburgh 1890
The serial number on the inside (see photo) is 53005 which dates it to around 1910. Walnut veneer with floral inlay design on the front. The original candle holders have been removed but you can still just about see where they were fixed. The music book holder can fold away and be stored inside the piano as in the last photo. Has small brass castors at bottom for moving.
Full-size keyboard with 85 keys.
Still has original key attached to the inside (see photo) to lock down the lid over the keys.
Condition: In reasonable condition considering the piano is over 100 years old. Some nicks and scratches to the veneer. Some slight water damage to the top lid.
All the hammers have been replaced and up until a few years ago the piano was tuned regularly every year.
This item is for collection only and is in High Wycombe (near railway station). It is very heavy and will require some strength to move. Cash preferred.
