This is a really unique Art Deco Bechstein Model A1 (6ft)
It was extensively renovated by Robert Morley and Co in 2017 at a cost of 5,200 (invoice available on request), including professional cleaning of soundboard bridges, strings and metalwork and hammer action with centre pins, springs and surfaces burnished. The keyboard and key-frame has been cleaned, pins bat and balanced, regulated and voiced. It is as good as new, with not a mark on the case. It has clearly been loved and looked after since it was bought in Harrods in 1924.

It plays beautifully, with an unmistakable ‘growly’ bass notes of a Bechstein and a round bell like tone in the middle and upper register.

A real piece of Hollywood glamour, and a lovely instrument. I will be moving and won’t have the space for it, but I’ll be very sad to see it go.
