Bechstein model 4 upright piano, made in 1887, with a serial number of 17680. Finished in a gothic ebonised case, with etched carving on the front panels and lid. A real eye catching piece of furniture!
85 original keys, in good condition. This is an iron frame overstrung piano with an underdamped action.
It has had extensive work to the action recently, including new damper felts and springs, new tapes and refaced hammers. It is tuned to concert pitch.
It plays very nicely, with a rich deep tone, as you would expect from a Bechstein!
Both pedals work as they should, and the brasswork has been repolished.
The casework is in good condition. There is some wear and tear, a bit of crazing on some of the veneer, and some worn edges, but no nasty scratches!
Still a striking piece of furniture, with its chunky gothic style.
This is an original model 4, made when Carl Bechstein was still alive. Later, this model was known as a model 9.
It is not to large, the dimensions are 147cm long, 120cm high, 59cm deep.
Here at Milton Keynes Pianos, we are having a stock clearance, and this piano has to go to make space for new stock!
The black stool pictured is included in the sale. It is in good condition, with a comfortable deep buttoned seat. It is height adjustable, and has a lift up seat for music storage.
