Bechstein model V. 1901/1902 manufacture dateI have partially reconditioned this piano. All keys havebeen re-bushed, re-levelled and the key pins have been polished anddry-lubricated. The hammers have been refaced and sympathetically voiced. Onrefitting the action it has been fully regulated. Some bass string pairs havebeen replaced, where necessary. It plays very nicely! This piano has a sweet, round sound at the tenor and asonorous singing in the tenor/alto areas and a moderate bass. The sound is notlarge, suiting a normal room rather than a hall or church. The touch is lightto medium, and accurate for clean ornamentation.The piano is under-damped and straight-strung. Contrary topopular belief the tenor strings are actually longer than an overstrung smallupright. The bass strings are indeed slightly shorter. The cabinet is in fair condition. Some knocks etc. The keysare original one piece ivory in immaculate condition, with very slightyellowing. The cabinet has been modernised at some point by a dealer.Soundboard is good. No splits, sound travels across nicely.This has been tuned to A440. Please bear in mind that the new strings will go out of tune a few times before they settle. Viewing welcome and encouraged.
