This is a John Brinsmead – Overstrung and under damped Piano Including Local Delivery -The case is of Rosewood, inlaid with boxwood banding, retaining it’s original sconces.
This piano was subject to a professional restoration a few years ago, lightly used since.
It has a full iron frame. It is Overstrung and Underdamped with a full keyboard of 7 Octaves.
This is a good example of one of the best quality English made pianos. Brinsmead were often referred to as the British Bechstein. This example dates to Circa 1910, the height of the British Empire, often quoted as the best era of piano manufacturing.
After the World War I many skilled craftsmen were lost in the fighting and the quality woods used in manufacture was used as pit props in the trenches, pianos were never the same again.
The key covers are the original bone type used with the better make of pianos…….
The reconditioning involved a complete case re-polish, re string, new tuning pins, new damper felts and springs – New Abel Hammers.
It has just been serviced, regulated and voiced and tuned to concert Pitch (A440) and suitable for a beginner or good pianist alike.
It has a great sound, full tone on all the strings and a positive firm touch. There are a couple of minor blemishes on the casework in keeping with it having been used for a few years since the case was refurbished.
