Casio VL-TONE VL-1 1980s Electronic Synthesizer Keyboard & Original Case (VGC)

Tested & working well, including on batteries and DC 6V.

Some scratches around Line-Out/Power socket on back.

Complete with original Japanese manual (good condition).

Originally launched in June 1979, this was the world’s first commercial digital synthesizer. I bought this one in Singapore in 1980.

Requires 6V DC power supply / 4 x AA batteries (not included).

‘It has 29 calculator-button keys (G to B), a three-position octave switch, one programmable and five preset sounds, ten built-in rhythm patterns, an eight-character LCD, a 100-note sequencer, and a multi-function calculator mode.

The VL-1 is notable for its kitsch value among electronic musicians, due to its cheap construction and its unrealistic, uniquely low-fidelity sounds’.

Over the years, the VL-TONE VL-1 has been used by many notable artists, including Trio, Human League, Gorillaz, Lady Gaga, Fergie and Robbie Williams.
