My house is on the market so sadly the organ has to go to a new homeThis organ came from a school. It was at least two  possibly three organs. which were then rebuilt into what you see now. The whole organ was remade using masses of new timber. All the ranks were sorted out and most of the pipe racks with new bases were made. new valve springs felts new leather bellows infact just about every thing. I’m not trying to say its as new because it isnt, there will be more to do once the organ is re sited but that is quite normal when an organ is stripped down
The chap who made this  organ his lifes work was highly skilled, it was an incredible under taking for one man to do but he really knew what he was doing. That was some years ago with work left to do. sadly the chap passed away so the organ sat unused playable but unfinished collecting dust and apple cores! in a classroomwe brought the organ  with out seeing it over the phone at auction after whatching  it on bbc1 news the night before, when the school was closing. The other bidders were from the USA !The strip down involved a huge amount of cleaningonce all that was carried out. I set about finishing the job of restoring the organ. Mainly  it was the valve chest which needed work the task of rebuilding then took place ( there are a lot of parts to an organ ) BUT NO PARTS WERE MISSINGOnce the main parts  of the organ were in place we tuned the pipes as we went. I still tinker with some of the actions of the couplers, but as i enjoy the mechanics of it for me its a pleasure to have things to do.as can be seen it is a two manual. i wont go into detail re the stops as you can see the details in the pictures, but i can tell you it has a lovely original sound there are no electronics the blower is a single phase unit and is a perfect size for the room the organ is in. I removed the iron weights from the swell as i prefer the mellow sound. Those are still here and go with it, also the curved mirror which i didnt refit.
I’m not an organist, my misses plays it. I have always enjoyed listening to pipe organ music plus I like a challenge and getting an organ with out ever touching one before, working out how it works, and rebuilding it was great fun and anyway what else was i going to put in that massive room!please no time wasters i will soon know if your just day dreamingIm happy to help the buyer take the organ apart this will take at least three days and you will need two helpers lots of lables masking tape pallet wrap and a good camera oh and a b&b to stay in. A decent  size van or truck with a trailor plus the means to look after it in transit re packingsubject to agreement i may be willing to dismantle the organ for the winning bidder and transport it but again i stress that is subject to agreement.I’m located in pe114ra which is near spalding lincolnshire.
I would imagine an organ like this would cost a fortune if you had one made or for one to be rebuilt! The room the organ is in has a vaulted ceiling which is 18ft high with original wooden roof beams  oak flooring plenty of natural light and the temperature is quite stable so the organ sits quite happy and the acoustics qualities suit the organ as is re the size of blower. There is no asbestos in or on the organ. it will be an easy strip down but my oak flooring will need protecting. There are french doors just to the side and parking just there. If my memory is right the longest pipe is just under 12ft long and core what a low note it is.To lower the valve chest i have scaffolding and pulley, as you can imagine the valve chest is very heavy and would take four strong men to lift up and lower !! mainly it is all about protecting the parts when moving it. I could even strip and pack the organ into crates for the buyer to ship but of course that would be some thing to talk about as it would take quite some time and cost.
I also have another pipe organ which is smaller and in parts but complete ready for collection. this one needs  work mainly on the lead air tubing which could be swapped for plastic I saved that one !
church pipe organs are the king of instruments and must be saved
