Treat Your Senses to the Musical Beauty of the PF500
Close your eyes and reach for the keys. Feel the smooth action of the keyboard as it responds to your every touch. Listen to the depth and realism as the multilayered stereo samples envelop you in rich, expressive piano sound. Play a sustained passage up and down the keyboard-you can still hear every note ringing clearly as you continue on to the next phrase. The passion builds. Notice how not only the volume but also the harmonic content of each note subtly changes as you go from pianissimo to forte and back again. After a while you begin to forget that you’re not playing a concert grand but rather an extraordinary breed of digital piano. You open your eyes. There in front of you is the fine musical instrument you have just experienced, in all its style and beauty. A true work of modern art. The Yamaha PF500.
Digital Sound That’s Absolutely Grand
Inside the PF500’s elegantly designed cabinet lies some of the most sophisticated digital technology ever put into a musical instrument. The reason: To achieve a piano sound that’s virtually indistinguishable from the real thing. It all starts with three layers of stereo grand piano samples, each recorded at a different velocity – piano, mezzo forte, and forte – which change dynamically according to how hard you strike the keys. For even more accuracy, the PF500 uses Stereo Sustain samples to recreate the resonance of the strings and soundboard when the damper pedal is pressed, and Key-off samples to provide the subtle sound piano keys make when released. But the realism doesn’t stop there. Thanks to newly added String Resonance samples, sustaining notes ring out with even more harmonic fullness. And with 128 notes of polyphony, the PF500 can handle the most demanding musical pieces wihthout ever cutting off a note.
Piano Tradition Meets State-of-the-Art
Built to provide the ultimate piano experience, the PF500 combines authentic piano touch and sound with a wealth of advanced functions. The first thing you’ll notice when you sit down and play is how smooth and responsive the keyboard action feels. This is thanks to Yamaha’s Graded Hammer Effect keyboard, specially designed so that the keys in the lower registers have a heavier touch than those in the top. For even more expression, the included three-foot pedal lets you reproduce the damper, sostenuto and soft pedal effects of an acoustic piano.
