A rank of Violin-tone pipes for the melody rank of a Fair/Band/Street organ. There are 23 pipes in the rank from ‘G’ in the bass up to ‘F’ in the treble. (This is the normal compass for the melody rank on a lot of fair ‘type’ organs). Fully chromatic scale; -i.e. no notes missing in the scale, which is why there are 23 pipes rather than 22 as the normally missing ‘top ‘D#’ pipe in this pipe scale is included for completeness.
A Wurlitzer band organ pipe scale was used to obtain dimensions when constructing these pipes. They are built from Douglas Fir with Maple blocks and Mahogany caps. The harmonic brakes and tuning slides are brass. All the parts are present although most of the tuning slides have not yet been fitted. They were built for an organ project many years ago but were never used. They all produce a note but require voicing, regulating and tuning.
