“Make your M100 sound like a B-3!!!”
For all M-100 seriesSince 2010, I have sold Foldback Kits to over 150 satisfied Buyers.Unlike Hammond consoles (B3, C3, etc.), Hammond spinets don’t “foldback” (or repeat)
the higher frequencies at the upper ends of the manuals.e.g.: On a spinet, pull out the upper two or three drawbars on the upper manual
then play some notes in the highest octave of the upper manual. You won’t hear anything!
That’s because Hammond eliminated the contacts at the upper ends of the manuals
on the spinets as a cost-cutting measure.There are more tones missing other than in the above example.
On the Upper manual, foldback affects the uppermost 1-1/2 octaves when using the upper FIVE drawbars.
On the Lower manual, foldback affects the uppermost octave (C-C) when using the upper FOUR drawbars.You should have soldering/desoldering skills to install this kit.
You should also have knowledge of the servicing and/or the removal
of the manual chassis from your M100.This kit contains enough contacts (plus some extras) to foldback the BOTH manuals of an M100 organ.The contacts included come from M2, M3 and M100 chassis that have loops at the ends of the contact wires.
These contacts are much easier to install compared to later contacts – which don’t have the end loops.The only way to get the contacts needed is to remove them from a “donor” organ.
Therefore, be aware that these items are used, but they are usable.I pack the contacts by frequency, noting which keys and/or Harmonic busbars they are to be installed to.Instructions for both chassis removal (with photos) and Foldback instructions (with photos) will be available for download.The instructions are Microsoft Windows Word documents.

I have no advice for users of operating systems other than Windows.

History:
The Hammond M-100 is a type of Hammond organ, produced by the Hammond Organ Company. The M-100 was smaller than the classic B-3 model, and is one of the smaller ‘Spinet’ organs. The Spinet organs are related to the larger B3 and C-3, but have shorter keyboards, built-in amplifiers, and fewer pedal options. These compact Hammonds are more portable, and were used by many famous musical groups and organists, due to their lighter weight and transportability for touring. The spinet Hammonds generate sounds by mechanical ‘tonewheels’ spinning inside the organ, just like the B3/C3 series of organs. While other organ companies used electronic oscillators or vibrating reeds to create notes, the Hammond tonewheel system creates a warm, rich sound that has become the classic organ sound of the 1960s and 1970s. The M-100’s Vibrato/Chorus tone shares the same circuitry as the larger B3 and C3, so it is slightly superior to many other Hammond spinet models (like the L-100).UsageThe classic M-100 sound can be heard on Procol Harum’s 1967 song ‘Whiter Shade of Pale’.John Paul Jones used his own M-100 for the Led Zeppelin’s eponymous debut album, on ‘You Shook Me’ and ‘Your Time Is Gonna Come’.
