Hughes and Kettner Tube Rotosphere Mk II Paypal only. UK buyers only due to the power supply being UK 240v only.

The Mark II gives you the machined top cover plate (very nice) and also a latching breaker switch (cuts power to the virtual spinning rotors), which the MK I version did not have.

Tube-based pre-amp and rotary speaker emulator, for organ or guitar, with switchable gain levels appropriate to the two types of instrument.

Almost unique in rotary speaker emulators, this unit features stereo input and output jacks, with mono input and output optional using the right hand jack in each pair.

The tube/valve preamp gives a range of response from a clean-(ish!) boost in output to a progressively dirty overdrive. I had this hooked up to a Hammond-type clonewheel organ for a number of years and it did a fine job of greasing up the relatively lifeless clean organ tone, and adding some spit to the key click. It can therefore be used as a valve pre-amp and is useful just for this. It has a by-pass switch so the unit can be completely switched out if you need to, and separate drive and volume output knobs.

The unit also provides (in my subjective opinion, but I’m fussy) a very good chorus (slow rotary) sound. For guitar, think Clapton’s Badge, or Harrison’s While my guitar gently weeps. The fast rotary speeds for the virtual upper and lower rotors are adjustable via two posidrive screws either side of the rotor-balance knob, and the valve is replaceable for tube rolling, if that’s your thing. I think the valve in it, currently a Ruby Tube, sounds very good. It uses a 12AX7A or ECC83 tube.

It comes with a UK power supply, with adjustable voltage, which has been problem free.

There is a jack for a foot-switch, which I do not have, as I always operated it by hand on top of a keyboard.

Overall, a very nice unit, which shows some signs of use, but is fully functional.  I have always kept it in a centrally-heated house, and it is a smoke-free home.

The manual is available on the Hughes and Kettner website here:

I do not have the original box but the item will be well-packed.

Postage and packing will be charged at 14.99, and any excess cost will be refunded if lower. Will post to UK only given the power supply is a UK unit.
