A John Brinsmead & Sons upright over-strung piano in need of a good home and some TLC.
I’m not sure of its exact age – it belonged to my great Grandmother who taught music. I took it from my dad several years ago when he moved house. I’ll update with the serial number when I find it.
It hasn’t been used properly or tuned for over 30 years. All the keys/hammers work, although about 5 of them stick. A few of the strings rattle, and some of the keys are missing their ivory veneer. The keys have coloured dots from lessons taken during my childhood.
There is no water damage, and no signs of woodworm. The cabinet is redwood and in decent condition for its active life & age. The keys show the piano has seen lots of use in the past. It’ll definitely need tuning or maybe a recondition before it’s fit for any kind of musical service again.
Obviously it’s very heavy, and is currently on the ground floor of my house with a single step to pass through the front door. I have a device for moving heavy furniture which should help manoeuvre it out. It came into the house on its castors but left indents in the wooden floor, so I’ll pass the heavy moving device on with the piano FOC.
