This piano has been in the family since it was manufactured. I, quite frankly, know little else about it. As far I can research, the serial number 94844 indicates it was manufactured in 1900 or possibly 1901. Either way it’s fairly old and it’s built properly. Value wise, I’ve found seemingly identical (to my uneducated self) pianos with vastly differing prices; literally from 200 to 18000. I will leave the valuation to you buyers who will probably be much more informed than I am. My camera does not have a wide angle lens, hence the lack of a full width shot, but rest assured that the entire piano is there. I have tried to show as much of it as possible with the 12 photo limit. Generally, I would say it’s in very good condition, considering it’s 120 years old. However, a few things need specifying. Firstly, it will most likely need to be restrung, either wholly or partially, and will most certainly need tuning. Secondly, one of the batters needs some attention as it does not hit the strings when the key is struck. All the other keys sound superb though and the strings look ok to my untrained eye. The interior is mind-blowingly complex and the photos do not do it justice. There’s also a lot of brass! Thirdly, as I have shown on the photos, there is some damage to some of the veneer on the lower leg and a couple of dints, one on the lid and one beneath the cover on the right side. Apart from that, there are a few scratches which I’m sure could be polished out. There is nothing irreparable. It’s therefore pretty much as it looks in the photos. There are also two stools which you choose one of if you need a stool. Both stools need new hinges.
Thanks for looking.
One last thing….removal. It’s obviously going to be collection only. Getting it out of the house might be a challenge but it got in there so it can get out again. I can organise (wo)man-power if needed and we will definitely get the piano to your van in whatever manner is necessary.
