Custom “Leslie” Half-Moon Speed Control Switch
Made from an original Leslie Bakelite ‘half-moon’ style switch, custom reworked to operate the remote speed control function on Hammond XK3/XK3c/SK2 /Nord C1/C2/Neo Ventilator & Ventilator II (Not Mini Vent)
The switching function is the same as the Hammond CU-1 switch, and the Nord speed switch, it can attach directly to the front rail using Velcro (supplied) The 2m (approx) cable is terminated in a Neutrik 3-pole (TRS) 1/4″ jack plug The cable is gripped securely inside the switch and therefore unlikely to be any problem
This particular switch is finished in black gloss with an original black Bakelite control knob
The switching function is as below:
Sleeve = common (ground)Ring = connects with common for Fast/Trem functionTip = connects with common for Slow/Chorale functionNo connections are made when the toggle is in the centre “Stop / Off” position(This functions the same as Nord Switch and the Hammond CU-1 switch)
The switch can be configured for a 2 – position only (Chorale – Trem) type (i.e. no centre “Stop/Off”) if required(let me know if this is what you prefer – it can easily be swapped over)
I have made up several of these switches now, they all tend to be a little different in some way – i.e colour, some original Bakelite, some the old engraved style, some are the label type, some sprayed custom colours…I’ve supplied many that attach to the keyboard front rail with velcro, and also many with a bottom plate and thumbscrews to locate the pair of tapped holes on the XK3/XK3c and Nord C1/C2 (same fitting as CU-1 switch & Nord Switch)(If this is the style you want, I’ll be listing one soon)
I remove the original switch contacts, as these are now starting to become unreliable due to ageing, and replace them with a small piece of circuit board mounted with two microswitches – these are very positive in action and still retain the original feel (better some say!) of the traditional Leslie switch as the original toggle mechanism is used – I prefer the silky/positive feel of these, much more tactile than some other ‘notchy’ feeling switches
This switch is not suitable for switching AC mains
(as was the case with Leslie 145,147, 251 and similar models)
I will not accept any responsibility if it is used for anything other than low voltage / digital purposes
(It could be used with a 9-pin Leslie such as model 760 or HL822 etc as these models utilise low voltage DC speed control)
If there’s any problems, you can return it and I’ll sort it out no charge (just postage cost maybe)
Any queries – get in touch and I’ll do my best to help
Paypal Only – Thanks
