DescriptionGreat little Yamaha piano. Family owned since new. This particular piano, serial number D3553763, was made in Japan in 1982, Yamaha’s ‘Golden Era’ of craftsmanship. Purchased new from Harrods circa 1985. Spent 10 years in London before move to New Forest, Hampshire where it remains to date.
While the M5J series is the precursor to today’s Yamaha entry level ‘B series’, this model was made in Japan before production of this range moved to Britain and eventually Indonesia. Many regard the standards of quality & craftsmanship of these pianos as higher than their modern day brethren.
ConditionOverall the piano is in very good cosmetic condition. The surfaces are remarkably clean and unmarked. The keys are in generally good condition.There are 3 issues of note. Firstly (as seen in photo) the top right appears to have been bumped slightly during moving. Only noticeable on close inspection. Secondly, one of the F keys has a noticeable chip (see photos). Thirdly the piano has been in a sunny room for years with periods of time with the lid up. Hence a sun line on the top is clearly visible. The top half has lightened slightly and the bottom half is darker. Of course, this is only visible with the lid down.
