NAMEPLATE FROM A HORIZONTAL SQUARE PIANO BY GEORGE WILKINSON 315 OXFORD STREET LONDON, C. 1820. It was on the ornamental ‘dash board’ above the keys. The piano was a wreck, having been in a damp cellar under a theatre & this was the only bit worth saving. Wilkinson was in business c. 1816-1829 according to Rosemary Harding’s book The piano, Cambridge, 1933. made of brass or ormulu. nice ornamental item.
