An organ builder’s nameplate:-  “GEO. JOHNSON,  ORGAN BUILDER,  BRISTOL, 1894.”    Made from ‘pre-1947 organic material’.  – (Size:- 4″ x 2.5″).    Not engraved: lettering appears to be casein paint. Nameplate is now discoloured due to age.    .  .  .  .   [George Johnson was originally a foreman with the large Bristol organ building company  W. G. Vowles  who built many organs, mainly in the West Country.  He left his employer and set up his own workshop in Kings Square, Bristol.   There was already a small corner missing from the bottom left-hand corner when I removed it from the organ.  This has been replaced with matching plastic material in order to maintain a rectangular shape.
