Organ Pipes: PEDAL BOURDON and Electric Chests
THIS IS THE BOTTOM (16FT) OCTAVE OF A PEDAL BOURDON STOP which can be added to an 8ft Flute stop to create a 16ft additionThis one is stunning!! except for the few spots of emulsion paint (a careless ceiling painter in the church – they really need cleaning off!) it seems like new! In actual fact it is over 50 years old, made by JW Walker for an extension organ in 1966. In the organ these two electric chests with 6 pipes on each stood on the sides of the casework.They are of lovely quality thick varnished timber, no splits, a good firm and resonant sound, and if I had a present use for them at the moment, they wouldn’t be appearing in Ebay. Unfortunately they take up too much space in my meagre sheds, so have to go.Each of the two windchests measures about 40 inches long, and holds 6 pipes, powered by good Kimber-Allen Direct Pallet magnets. The height of the entire rank (ie. The longest pipe standing on its chest) is just under 10ft. I believe their operating pressure to be about 3 inches wg.These really don’t come up very often. If you want to buy it, please put in a bid sooner rather than later. Often I get offers from outside Ebay, and in this instance I would end the listing – but only if there were no bids already madeThese of course have to be collected – these pipes are very heavy!
