RANK OF ORGANPIPES;
Pedal BOURDON and BASS FLUTE UNIT (42 pipes)A good solid Pedal stop, giving the organist a Bourdon stop 16ft and a Bass Flute 8ft. Built by ERNEST WADSWORTH, Manchester in 1889.Though the church has been closed a few years, it has fortunately not been damp, and the pipework appears to be in excellent condition – I couldn’t detect any splitsThe 30 Bourdon pipes are of traditional stopped wood. The 12 treble pipes that form the Bass Flute extension are of stopped metal. One of the smallest is slightly bent, and the next one has lost its stopper (which can be easily replaced). Otherwise good condition.The rank comes with the two windchests on which the pipes stand. The organ was electrified sometime in the second half of the 20th Century, so these chests are fitted with 12 volt lever-arm magnets
I assume Wind Pressure 3 to 3.5 inches. With no electricity on in the building, this is hard to verify, but cut-ups don’t suggest any high pressure.With the secondhand value of the magnets alone at about 100, I’m almost giving this away. But it is an excellent rank, and I would like to see somebody buy and re-use it.For any enquiries, my details are on the third photo
It’s louder brother, the pedal Open Wood (16ft Pedal Open) is also listed.
