This is a transposing piano which dates from around c1900 we think ???. We also think it was the original piano used in the Southport musical hall….at least thats the story back through the family…great grandad acquired it as part of some building work deal in the early 1900s.
As a transposing piano it is heavy as massive iron frame and its a very loud piano. I am in my 40s now and I remember playing this when I was a little boy and annoying all that listened!
It does work OK and we used to have it regularly tuned, but not done for a couple of years.
It has the soft pedal but the wooden damping bar isnt fitted. I have it ready to fit but havent got around to it.
In need of a new home and perhaps a little TLC. Would be an ideal buy for someone who wants a bit of music hall history or even Southport history.Buyer must collect or arrange a removal company to come and pick it up.
