pipe organ bass chest, 10 note compass. Condition is Used.
This is a thoroughly well-made item, but I have no need of it. Not many people out there will have a use for it (!), but to someone it may be a real problem-solver. Made c.1950 by J.W.Walker and Sons, it originally took the bottom 10 notes of a Large Open Diapason 8′. In fact, any rank could be fitted (including a Bourdon or Trombone) provided that the largest pipe is not more than 8″ in diameter. the action is Roosevelt-style, so it would work on any pressure without difficulty. Both internal leatherwork and the external magnets are in good working order.
The chest is very robust and the external magnets are well-protected with a proper cover. It will clean up well, I have merely brushed it down prior to taking my photos.
Dimensions: 60″ long 8″ back to front, 12.75″ tall (including the magnet box), though it is clear that the chest ends originally sat on a building frame. As can be seen, the air intake is at the bottom (bass end).
I would prefer collection in person, but if this is impossible for you, I would be happy to package it up and send it by courier provided that the courier’s charge would be covered by the purchaser. My guess: (at most) an extra 30.
