On offer is a [pipe organ] compact four stop slider chest (56 note compass) and companion underaction (electro-pneumatic). Condition is Used. I have had it playing in recent years; sorry about the dusty condition, but it’s a well-made thing and it can be expected to work well.

Dimensions: 66″ long, 22″ wide and 11″ tall, the underaction adds approximately another 12″ height to this.  The chest would still work with tracker action if desired.  As can be seen, the pulldowns are phosphor bronze with nylon bushes.

The soundboard was made c.1880 by Hill of London and originally contained four single ranks, it has been modified and now the fourth slide is drilled out for a III Mixture.  Originally the back two slides shared a bass octave, this provision has been modified so that each slide can now have a complete (separate) stop. The basses go in the centre (a common practice in Hill Swell organs) this makes for a very attractive layout if the chest is to be erected unenclosed.    The ‘bonus’ holes that may be seen by close inspection of photo 3 are to bleed the grooves in the upperboards.  This is common practice with some firms and greatly reduces the chance of runnings.

The underaction was made by Corbett and Bielby of Epsom c.1965.  I didn’t bother taking all the pulldown wires off, there may be most of a set still there.  The buyer can also have (when they collect the chest) the business end of C&B’s original electro-pneumatic stop action if they’d like it. I may yet find the original rackboards, (if so, they’d be free) but no promises there, I have so much junk lying around!

The price may seem high for a second-hand item, but the magnets alone would cost more than 10 each when new!

Because of the size and weight, collection is really the only option here.
