pipe organ two manual set of keys. Condition is Used.
This is a well-made set of keys, CC – A 58 notes, they come from a tracker action pipe organ, so the keys are quite long, though depending on how they will be used, that length could readily be changed. Those electrifying such keys often fit contact and springs between the key front and the pivot; if that was done here, the complete depth of both keyboards would be only 17″
Dimensions 33.75″ wide max 26.5″ from front to back height of both keyboards stacked together 5.75″
The frame is solid oak and is in good condition though there is one little chip which can be seen in close-up in one of the above photographs. The keys are in very good condition, pins are all good and nothing is sloppy with wear, i.e. little side-to-side movement anywhere. The keys have been decently recovered and all such surfaces are without damage and will clean up well. The sharps are ebony. I have merely dusted this before taking photos, no proper cleaning has been done. The front rails are also oak, in one of the photos you can see that originally there were two pistons under the Swell manual, these have been covered up with small pieces of thin oak.
I think the set were made by Laycock and Bannister c.1900. The slot that can be seen in the side of the frame is there because there used to be an inter-manual ‘drumstick’ coupler.
I would prefer collection in person, but I would be happy to package them up and send them via a courier providing that the purchaser undertakes to cover that cost.
