Rank of Organ Pipes: VOIX CELESTE, 8ft
The organ comes from a Methodist Church in Bradford. Its origins are not certain – possibly built (around 1900) by Fitton and Haley, and certainly restored by them around 1930. The bellows weights are J.J.BINNS (whose firm did soon after amalgamate with Fitton + Haley). Could the original pipework be by Binns? I’m not sure what all this tells us, but I can say that whichever pipemakes their pipes were ordered from, they are very good.
A celeste is a string rank form the Swell organ. Almost always they begin at Tenor C (as this one does – so 44 pipes). They are tuned slightly harp of the main string rank, and therefore produce a quiet undulating sound.This Celeste is lovely, narrow scale and made in its entirety of beautiful Spotted metal (maybe 40% tin, 60%lead)

This rank is too long to be sent by carrier, and of thin spotted metal (could bend easily)so it is “collection only”. I live 5 minutes from Junction 24, M62, so quite easy to access. If a buyer lives i9n the Midlands or the Soputh, I am intending over the next 3 months to drive to Oxfordshire, Hampshire, Dorset, Warwickshire etc, and could liaise with a buyer – phone me to discuss
Just a footnote: I do get quite a few requests from private contacts outside Ebay. If one of these wants to buy any of my listed ranks of pipes, I would take them off Ebay during a listing and sell them privately. Once a bid has been placed however, I will always leave the listing to run its course. The moral of the story? – If you want an item, place a bid on it sooner rather than at the last minute.
