At Klassic Keys GB, we have had six Rhodes Mark V pianos over the years. Everyone knows that this model is the ultimate 73-note; the “holy grail”. Herbie, Chick, Stevie & Donald (Fagen) all have one…check out interviews with Mr Corea, there is a MkV lurking in the background. Only 2000 were ever produced in Fullerton, the factory gates closed in 1984; end of an era……This particular piano is stamped 27/84 (serial no K 806379)….this means it was made 27th week of 1984….one of the last ones. It is in absolutely TOP condition, imported from Japan in June this year. The old owner was clearly not a player; there are virtually no signs of wear on all the hammer tips – so there are 5,999,500 strikes left on all 73 tips! Possibly purchased as part of a collection? Everything is spotless. Even all the clasps/latches all work! There is no original stand, unfortunately. There is a sturdy Tiger stand supplied instead; very similar style (not as good, but its the best we can do at the moment).Sounds Like? Where do you start? Try “Babylon Sisters” Steely Dan for something legato and swirling/cool…..”Brown Cow” for a rare solo…”Get Back” Beatles for a rock solo…..Plays Like? Due to the longer hammer throw, the key action/response is just wonderful. The hammers are special to the model, BTW. There are spares available in the unlikely event of breakage. We have voiced & tuned the piano anyway…..dreary job, but someone has to do it……..its now “pro” standard.Value for money? You pay for what you get. Its 34 years old already..no reason why it will not be around for another 50 years? Keep it dry<>watch the value increase…….
