Beautiful Schiller Upright Piano, Sapele, 1920s, 85 keys. This piano has been valued by Ben Edward’s, formerly of Steinway and Sons, at 500-800 if sold in a showroom. Some comments on the condition of the piano by Ben Edwards:
“A good German piano, probably from the 1920s, with a pleasant tone (though slightly weak bass) and good action.
It is in reasonable, playable condition, though could do with a little work.”
“Key coverings are plastic.
It has a full iron frame.
Tuning pins are good – strings are basically good, but with a little rust.
There has been fairly extensive restoration of the action – with new tapes, spiral springs, butt leathers, etc. Hammers are also new, with currently minimal wear.
Pedals and trapwork (pedal action) are in good condition.
Castors functional.”
