Steinway Grand Piano. Serial no 87225 dates it to 1897. Originally supplied by Harrods of London (still has original Steinway key!). Medium touched action which is even and smooth to play. Lovely soft mellow tone with particularly sweet treble. Hammers in good clean condition and look to have been replaced by previous owner and have also been refaced. Action inside shows wooden parts to be clean with evidence of some felts being replaced. Very good overall condition. Was tuned recently to concert pitch and holds pitch fine pins are nice and tight.
Piano has a gorgeous grain and lustre to the Rosewood case which is currently undergoing professional restoration back to the original finish by a craftsman with relaquering/ polishing on top. Still not quite finished but will be soon. Fallboard when closed has particularly unusual features that I’ve not seen on any other Steinway and there are some really interesting details on the grain. You can see the before and after the contrast in the photos. Very grandiose piece of furniture and would grace any home. Real elephant tooth keys. Square legs.
