This is a John Smith designed “Universal” 26 note paper roll playing fully mechanical street organ, it comes with everything needed to take to the streets and entertain, and typically collect for your favourite charity.
There are fully animated add on features making this a very eye catching instrument. For charity collections this means people will stop to look and listen, ( further attention can be got by sounding the “Train Whistle” located on the side of the organ case”, This organ was used by its maker to collect thousands for the Scouts and Beavers. The music rolls with the organ are a varied collection of popular tunes see list for details, more than enough to play in any situation. The 26 note scale is a standard one with hundreds of other tune available to suit all tastes. It is well known that this 26 note scale is capable of playing very good arrangements, equal to most 32 note organs.
The organ was made by my late friend Bernard Pilgrim, a very talented musician, engineer and maker of various musical instruments. The build quality, presentation, and musicality of this organ is second to none. just before he died the organ was independently valued at 3000 selling price. From new this organ has been kept in Bernards living room so is in tip top condition.
The organ has triple action bellows making it very easy to turn, there are four ranks of melody pipes all on draw stops and a Glockenspiel enabling the grinder to put expression into the performance. As well as being an instrument that anyone can play this is also very much a musicians organ. For example Melvyn Wright in addition to his huge catalog of music rolls will also cut rolls of your own musical arrangements for this organ.
The special features of this organ compared to any other organ of similar musical specification include, Very easy to turn, Compact size, (caravan doors no problem), significantly lighter weight than others, Removable Glock and automations.
