Studio size upright piano (46.5″/118cm high). Manufactured in 1911 by Jesse French and Sons in Nashville Tennessee. This is tracked via the serial number (45589). It is straight strung and over damped. It was fully refurbished with new strings, hammers and felts in 1987. Hardly played since. Last tuned 1989 and has been moved twice since so long over due but still reasonably OK.
The case is (I believe) Rosewood. When I bought it, it was ebonised but that was removed in 1987 and the whole case french polished. The wood is lovely and is generally in good condition, but there are a few marks as can be seen in the pictures. The key cover in particular is an uneven colour where I have sanded out scratches but cant seem to match the final polish colour. I am sure someone more skilled than me could.
