1998 Legnica 118 Upright Piano
Welcome to Berries Barn Pianos – specialising in high quality modern pianos, fully serviced and tuned and carefully delivered to their new homes.
A very high quality mid sized upright piano made in 1998 in Poland by the well regarded Legnica company, (previously Liegnitz in Germany before WWII). Unfortunately Legnica ceased production in about 1999, but until then they had maintained the very high standards of craftsmanship and rich European tones of their German piano building heritage.
This particular piano was owned from new by the previous owners and was regularly tuned and well looked after.
Fully serviced, including tuning and regulation, inside and out (any parts replaced as necessary), this is a stunning looking and sounding piano – great for beginners up to professional pianists. Due to the quality of craftsmanship and advanced design features (e.g. the agrafes for each note, usually found only on grand pianos) these rare larger Legnica pianos are well loved for their tonal quality and rightly so. In comparison to the ever popular Yamaha U1 uprights this piano has far superior tone and offers unbelievable value for money.

Tone and tuning
It has a big and rich tone with great balance between brightness and warmth, and a big dynamic range. Excellent full bass and the treble is clear and bell like without any harshness. It has just been tuned to concert pitch (A=440).
Keyboard and action
The full 88 note keyboard is in excellent condition and the action has been regulated so plays smoothly with medium weight across the whole keyboard. It is very responsive and satisfying to play.
Hammers and strings
Very little wear in the hammers – it has certainly not been played heavily. The hammers are by Abel – top quality, made in Germany.
Sound board – spruce
Excellent as new condition, no cracks or splits
Case
Beautiful looking mahogany wood with polyester high gloss lacquer. In very good condition – some very faint scratches and small marks here and there but still looks fantastic. Matching double or height adjustable stool included.
Dimensions – 118cm tall x 60 deep x 148 wide (widest point at top lid). A medium to full sized upright.
