You are looking at the classic Viscount/Oberheim OB-5. [I believe that they labelled it DB5 under Viscount and OB5 under Oberheim, so they’re the same organ.] First released in 2000, with the new OB5, a dual-manual Hammond B3 simulator, Oberheim went into direct competition with Roland’s similar VK77 organ and Korg’s BX3, not to mention the panoply of other B3 wannabes. The OB5s were constructed with great care to be as close to the B3 as possible. Rather than the 91 tone wheels inside the original B3, the OB5 has 91 digital generators, each dedicated to producing a single pitch. Mixing the drawbars produces spectral, rather than harmonic, combinations — another feature true to the original B3. Designers even strove to mimic the inherent imperfections found on the B3. For instance, when percussion is applied to the attack of the tone, the percussive sound doesn’t trigger on every note when many notes are played in quick succession. It has all the features you’d expect from a Hammond clone: drawbars for each manual [and for pedals if you attach a pedal board]; percussion; vibrato/chorus; Leslie simulator; controls for reverb and overdrive; presets [which you can programme yourself]; plus many more configurable settings in the menus. It does NOT come with legs or a stand. It takes a standard IEC/kettle type power cable – supplied. It’s a great organ to play – great sound and the action is really good. Everything works ok. Only selling it because I need the room.It is portable – have used it for gigging – but it really needs two people to carry so it’s more for home use I feel. [Although I have carried it myself up and down stairs.]I have the manual on a CD-R.Collection only [unless buyer arranges own courier] and am happy to help carry it down from 1st floor to buyer’s car.I could arrange to meet buyer within 30 mile radius of HD9 or S35 if buyer pays petrol.Any questions, please do ask.
