Here is an extremely rare Wurlitzer EP214 “Classroom” piano in FOREST GREEN. 200A (“stage” piano with legs) are now difficult to source ~ 206 consoles are even harder (and usually in tan/golden beige) ~ 214 consoles were not made in large numbers at all….and in this colour is UNIQUE!!!!
Model 214 (circa 1973) was marketed as a “classroom” piano….faceplate says so… Unusually its on castors (with brakes). Its the only Wurlitzer piano with FOUR 8″ round speakers on board…driven by a solid state onboard 20W amplifier (type 200*), with original “Joe 90″ h/phones and aux/line out 1/4” socket for recording/extra amplification (with free in-line “hum-killing” transformer). There will be an original music stand and owner’s manual included in the package. Note wee pull-out tray to put your beer on….cheers!
PLEASE NOTE:- photos show the 214 in “just arrived from USA container” condition. Once KKGB does the usual full service/refurb, it will be much prettier!
200* a refurbed 200 amplifier will be fitted; good for ten years. Such amplifiers sound grittier than the later 200A ones….just play “Your Gold Teeth” by Steely Dan (a long song, best near the end…). THAT is a 200 amplifier (slightly overdriven intentionally in the mix…..it CAN sound like “Top of the World” by The Carpenters, sweet and lovely…..yeuk). A new 220V mains traffo will also be fitted, with correct fuse & supressor…and a reed-bar kit will ensure maximum protection from the inherent ethereal interference, peculiar to all Wurlitzer pianos……so keep your mobile phone well away!
History:- sourced from a music store in LA, May 2019. Previous ownership unknown.
Condition:- keys are excellent (yes, that dodgy one will be fixed during refurb….) ~ lid is uncracked ~ action parts will “scrub up well”, even though they look OK ~ damper grommets will all be replaced, for fast, jazzy play…..tatty beige baffle will be replaced with better one (we have scrap pianos @ KKGB). This piano has NOT been thrashed. Its too heavy to gig at 50Kgs!
