For sale is a stunning example of Yamaha’s A1S Baby Grand Piano, with serial number S 5416713. Finished in polished black with square tapered legs and brass casters. This model is part of Yamaha’s professional line up, being exclusively manufactured in Japan and built to last, it has Yamahas highly sought after silent system, which comes factory fitted on the S models. This piano also comes with an adjustable and removable music stand.
With a medium touch and well balanced tone this piano is well suited to players of any style and ability.
Fully Acoustic With Silent System:
The piano is fully acoustic, however, with the pull of a lever a bar stops the hammers from hitting the strings, and sensors under the keys use your playing input, to generate realistic sound through the headphones. Perfect for playing anytime of day or night.
The silent system is impressive and accurate, using Yamahas own samples which were recorded from its 9ft concert grand piano.
Practicality:
This is perfect for anyone who wishes to practise at unsociable times in a flat or terrace house, along with family members that want to practise without disturbing others or waking up the kids. But, also want the benefit and satisfaction of playing a fully acoustic instrument without needing to wear headphones, when the occasion permits, which hopefully will be more times than not.
Even when playing using the silent system and headphones, you still have the feedback of the real pedals, the proper keys making the hammers hit something (in this case a bar) and the control and precision of the grand piano action.

Condition and Build Quality:
The piano is roughly 21 years old and had new strings and felt before I purchased it just over a year ago. As a result it won’t need any major maintenance for another 20 years, these are built to last.
The Yamaha A1 is one of the finest small baby grands made. No other manufactures have taken the time to build a small baby to the quality standards expected in the higher end of professional instruments. Traditionally in order to build a baby grand smaller they are just shortened, which causes the shape to seem pudgy and bulky, or out of proportion. The A1 was totally redesigned, so that the distance from the front of the keyboard to where the “curve’ in the body is begins sooner thus giving a more “graceful” appearance. The height of the “rim” is also about an inch and a half less, reducing “bulkiness”. Do not confuse this piano with current GB1 or GA1 models which are made in China and are totally different, in look and quality. The A1 was exclusively made in Japan to the high standards of Yamaha’s C series. New this piano sold for similar price of C1 (new C1X silent model has an RRP around 25,000) and designed for the professional pianist that may not have the room for a larger instrument.

Cosmetics:
The piano is black in colour, considered as a polished black (looks like standard piano black to me).
There is a small scuff / chip at the bottom left of the front (bottom corner under the keyboard), it’s only small, and must have been made during removal, other than that the piano is in perfect condition. This chip can be seen in the last picture and looks worse on the picture than it does when you actually see the piano.
Reason for Sale:
Due to new work commitments I don’t have the spare time, that I thought I would have to play it. It’s better off going to someone who can make proper use of it, as it is such a beautiful instrument.

I have a height adjustable piano stool, RRP 150, I can include this for an 75, in great condition.

Delivery:
Please note that the buyer will need to pay for the piano to be moved, by professional piano movers, from my place to theirs. The price will vary depending on the difficulty of installation at yous and the distance they need to travel, I can’t predict this and so cannot factor moving the piano into the cost, I advise that you expect to pay around 250+.
Payment:
Payment is to be made in full before moving, via online bank transfer or PayPal. Please note that payment in cash is not accepted.
Returns:
I am happy to accept returns within a 30 day period, at the cost of the buyer to have it moved back using the professional piano movers, as long as the piano is returned in the same condition it was purchased in.
