Yahama Clavinova CVP98 Digital Piano – Nice little project for someone….
In its day, it was the top of the range CVP piano available.
Many Voices and Rhythms
Although still works well, there are some issues that need sorting.
1). There is an intermittant audio problem. Theres a bad connection internally that comes and goes when playing. It seems to change with the vibration of playing, so probably a loose connection etc.
2). The top and bottom felts need changing. They have been changed for some thick rubber draft excluder top and bottom just to see how it played but the real felts need re-doing for the keyboard action to be correct. (these can be obtained for about 50 including VAT and delivery + 4 -8 weeks delivery time from Sontek). There are videos on Youtube that will show how this is done and level of complexity.
The piano is quite heavy and will need 2 people to lift for transport. It should fit in a large Hatchback or estate. I believe the legs can be removed for transport.
I am hoping to upgrade the piano soon and dont have the space for 2, so this really needs to go first and ASAP.
