Yamaha is the leader in digital piano technology and this, the Portable Grand electronic keyboard, is so named for its high quality multi-layered sampling of its grand piano. The DGX series has been and still is its flagship portable keyboard. This version is the DGX-505. The current version is the DGX-660 with an SRP of 851.00: see https://uk.yamaha.com/en/products/musical_instruments/pianos/portable_grand/index.html Their current version retains many of the features of this DGX-505 keyboard, such as the highly acclaimed Live!, Sweet!, and Cool! Voices, but why pay 850?
Perfect for learning and playing for all abilities, you can feel what it’s like to play with a band accompaniment, or play solo; you can record using its inbuilt system; you can learn through its lesson features; you can choose from hundreds of instrument sounds, play two at once (dually or by splitting the keyboard), choose from over a hundred accompaniment styles, use harmonies, reverb and chorus effects; and Easy Chord lets you play chords with one finger. This is all helped by comprehensive information on an LCD display.

The keyboard and accessories will be sent to you in the original box, for full protection. As the box says, the DGX-505 can play back not only the vast number of commercially available GM song titles, but also perform simple playback of most XG song data available from www.yamahamusicsoft.com and other sources. It has rich piano sounds, realistic instrument voices, and comprehensive features, including a piano-style touch-sensitive and lightly weighted 88-key keyboard with 32-note polyphony for natural, expressive playing; a SmartMedia slot lets you store your valuable data to convenient memory cards (one is supplied); a built-in USB terminal allows quick and easy computer connection; it has support for XGlite and General MIDI formats; it has the applauded Live! Cool! and Sweet! Voices; it has nearly 500 realistic instrument voices including ten drumkits and two SFX and 135 preset accompaniment styles.
It can operate either on six D-sized (LR20, R20P) batteries (not supplied) or, preferably, using an AC mains power adaptor. This is not included because it doesn’t fit into the DGX-505 box and it is heavy and so expensive to post but I can send you it separately if you wish, so if you want it please add 10, no further charge, and it’s yours. Or if you prefer you can buy a compatible new adaptor such as the Yamaha PA-150B for about 40.

The robust packaging with contents weighs over 30kg, and this along with its size (1500 x 570 x 370mm) makes delivery costs high at 55 unfortunately (TNT). On the other hand, collection is free, and personal delivery locally within the Exeter area could be arranged at a much more modest cost of just 10, or within 50 miles of Exeter at a cost of 20, provided that you can help me unload it.
