I’m selling my beloved Yamaha U3 upright piano, which is finished in polished black and looks quite stunning.
It’s a reluctant sale, but it just does not get played much these days. It was turned ten months ago and it’s still perfectly in tune now.
I’m based in St.Neots for viewing or for you to try out. Obviously social distancing measures will have to be kept.
The serial number is: H2599901 this makes it a 1978 model. If you are not familiar with Yamaha U3 upright pianos, between 1975 and 1985 was considered the ‘golden decade’ for the U3, when Yamaha made their best pianos with the smoothest/warmest tones.
A brand new U3 cost just shy of 10,000 and Mark Goodwin Pianos sells U3 pianos from the 70s and 80s for between 4,500 and 5,000.
I doubt you will find a nicer U3 than this one. Remember, most retailers source their used U3 pianos from China, where they have been hammered in music schools for years and have seen better days. They import them in batches of about 50 and give them a quick polish and palm them off as ‘completely refurbished’ which is nonsense as it cost about 5,000 to professionally refurbish an upright piano. Typically the loop chords and all sorts of other things need doing, which most dealers don’t. This piano of mine is absolutely perfect and nothing needs doing to it.
The piano must be collected from first floor in St.Neots, Cambridgeshire, at your own cost. I can recommend a good piano removal company for you and they can give you a quote to have it professionally moved to your house.
